Hi Kathryn,
I just found you on twitter and thought I’d be a bit forward and ask a favour. I’m a pregnancy and postnatal exercise specialist and I’m doing an online version of my birthball-handbook later this month and am looking for bonuses to give away with it. Do you have anything on pregnancy and/or postnatal nutrition I could offer? It would mean people have to come to you with their contact details to get it and could get you some good traffic.
Let me know your thoughts.
Kind Regards,
Mark.
Hi Kathryn,
My email reply to you was rejected, so I’m posting it here.
I lost 22 pounds of post-pregnancy weight doing bentos and Weight Watchers at the same time. For that reason alone I think bento is a great topic for potential and new mothers. It’s a fantastic way to keep lunch portions under control. Having had two kids myself, I know that it can be so easy to just use the “eating for two” excuse to go nuts. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help you out.
Pikko
Hi Pikko,
Congratulations on your weight loss! I am not familiar with bento but would love to hear more. We are looking into why your email bounced and hopefully it won’t happen again.
Thanks for writing!

I love your blog! As a holistic nutritionist Paul Pitchford’s Healing With Whole Foods is one of my greatest resources. I’m very excited to hear him speak in Vancouver in May! I don’t have a comment, I have a question but I don’t know where to post it. My Question: what is the procedure called involving the stitching of the cervix as a drawstring purse. This procedure delays a pre-mature delivery, extends the fetal gestation, and has a French name. What is it?
Hi Ms. Millet,
The procedure you mention is called a Cerclage and is used in the case of “incompetent cervix” to prevent premature delivery.
Thanks for your question!
Kathryn,
I am so impressed by this website. The information is useful, informative, and revelatory. I am so excited to have this site as a resource throughout my pregnancy! Thank you!
Hi there Kathryn,
I have an 8 month old she is very happy and a wonderful child. I have had a low breast milk supply since her birth. I am being tested for PCOS. I pump and take herbal supplements. I have tried fennel, blessed thissle, and goatsrue, (Now I pump 3-4 times a day/ I want to breast feed as long as I can. I do not want to take Metfomin the recommended medication for PCOS. DO you have any suggestions. I am a vegetarian and trying to avoid soy and dairy and suggestions on a diet?? I try to eat as many greens as possible. I was juicing carrot juice. I was doing a lot of mug beans and brown rice. I need to lose weight to get my hormones back in balance and the PCOS. any suggestions would be helpful.
Blessings
Lauren
Hi Lauren, Congratulations on breastfeeding for 8 months! As you probably know, there is a relationship between PCOS and low milk supply. Even so, there are some things you can do. Some herbs work better than others for different moms. Make sure your health care provider and/or lactation consultant are experienced with PCOS and breastfeeding. Breastfeed before offering solids. Get plenty of rest. In addition, there are several article on this site that may be helpful. “Infertility and Breastfeeding,” “Breastfeeding and Milk Supply,” and “How do I Increase my Milk Supply?” Feel free to contact me privately if you’d like more help. Thanks for writing!

I have been trying to get pregnant for the past 3 yrs. No success, I believe I have PCOS and don’t have the money to go to the doctor or have fertility treatments and such! But I really want to be blessed with a little bundle of joy! I am starting to believe it will not happen. I wanted to know if there was anything herbal I could try, ANYTHING! Would really appreciate some advice, thank you!
